AHTS ITC CHINOOK has been contracted for the towage of Panamax bulker CONTI SERPENTIN from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Setubal, Portugal. The 225 meters long bulker sustained grounding damage to its propeller and is being towed with the rudder removed. Challenging conditions as this results in significant sheering of the tow.

During the month of December 2011, AHTS BLUSTER was engaged in the towage of the heavy pipe lay barge FORTUNA from Korsakov, on the southern tip of Sakhalin, to Nantong, China. Given the time of the year and the location, both the mobilization and the towage were characterized by bad weather conditions. Nevertheless the towage was completed smoothly and within time schedule.

BOULDER ALSO ENGAGED IN NORD STREAM

Early September 2011, our AHTS BOULDER sailed from Ijmuiden to the Baltic in order to participate as fourth anchor handler in the Nord Stream project joining our AHTS BLIZZARD which is active for this prestigious project since March 2010. Together with two other anchor handlers, the four vessels are running the 12 anchors of 25 tons on a 24/7 basis.

BLUSTER ASSISTS FPSO AOKA MIZU

AHTS BLUSTER has been contracted for two periods by Bluewater Services UK to assist FPSO AOKA MIZU in Ettrick Field, located in the Outer Moray Firth, about 120 km NE of Aberdeen. Together with a second AHTS, the BLUSTER rendered heading control services during diving and ROV operations. First services were rendered  for two weeks in June, a second period of assistance is scheduled for second half of August 2011.

BLUSTER FOURTH ANCHOR HANDLER IN NORD STREAM

For a five weeks period as from early July 2011, our BLUSTER was active as fourth anchor handler with semi submersible lay barge CASTORO SEI in the Nord Stream project. During the pipe laying near the Estonian border, where one of the boats had to act as life anchor, Saipem UK Ltd decided to add a  fourth anchor handler to the already impressive spread of vessels.

SUMATRAS DELIVERS NEW BARGES

ITC tug SUMATRAS arrived mid July 2011 in Rotterdam after a 14,500 miles tow from Dalian, China, for delivery of four new building barges. Submersible barge AMT CHALLENGER (19,200 dwt) was loaded with sister barge AMT COMMANDER and offshore barges UR 98 and UR 99. SUMATRAS first towed both AMT barges in double tow from Shanghai to Dalian where the barges were loaded onto each other.

BOULDER AND TYPHOON TEAMED UP WITH OLEG STRASHNOV

AHTS BOULDER and AHT TYPHOON were linked up with SHL's new building DP-3 HLV and installation vessel OLEG STRASHNOV, with a 5000 tons lifting capacity. This vessel was deployed to complete the installation of two substations, 68 foundation piles along with 71 transition pieces for the Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm offshore Norfolk, U.K.

FAREWELL TO SIMOON AND SUHAILI

Two of the traditional S-Wind Class ocean towage tugs found new owners. March 24th, 2011 SUHAILI was sold to the U.S. based salvage and pollution response company Resolve. The tug was handed over in Freeport, Bahama's and renamed RESOLVE SUHAILI. On April 8th 2011, the ownership of sister tug SIMOON was transferred to the Greek owners Fournarakis Bros and will continue its operations by Diavlos Pantanassa Inc under the name S/T PANORMITIS.
We wish both vessels and their crewmembers a fortunate and safe sailing.
